Maydi Frankincense Resin — Boswellia frereana, Grade 1 Amshaat, Somali Olibanum Tears

Raw graded Maydi frankincense, Boswellia frereana, hand-harvested in the Sanaag highlands of northern Somaliland, graded at our facility in Burao and exported through Berbera. Local names are Maydi and Yagcar. The Gulf trade knows grade 1 as Amshaat.

The resin is tapped by hand through the harvest season, rested, then sorted by hand. Tears run pale yellow to warm amber, translucent to opaque, with a fresh citrus and pine aroma. Maydi does not melt down into a pool when burned the way other frankincense does, which is why Gulf incense buyers pay above other species for it.

Grades available:

Grade 1 select (Amshaat) — largest, cleanest, palest tears

Grade 2 select — good size and colour, wider spread than grade 1

Grade 3 select — smaller tears with more variation, the economical grade for production burning

Powder — ground material for incense blending and formulation

Bought by incense and bakhoor manufacturers, chewing resin traders, perfumers, cosmetic and wellness formulators, and importers supplying those trades.

We supply raw graded resin only. .

Samples are free, 100 g per grade, with the buyer paying the courier. Every sample bag carries a lot number tracing back to the grading run, so material you approve can be repeated on the order.

Every shipment carries a commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, and phytosanitary certificate. A Certificate of Analysis from an independent laboratory.
