RWENZORI VANILLA BEANS

We Source our vanilla pods from handpicked Farms in Parts of the Rwenzori mountains in Western Uganda. 

We have a Network of over 250 giant and trained vanilla farmers who supply our company (Diamond Seeds Co.Ltd)  with ready to harvest vanilla pods at every harvesting season.

We sell both green vanilla pods and the processed vanilla gourmet.

 Grades and Quality Requirements of Green Vanilla Pods

1. Grade specifications:

• Grade 1- Longer than 17cm
• Grade 2- 15cm-16.9cm
• Grade 3- 12cm-14.9cm
• Grade4-9cm- 11.9cm
• Split pods are graded separately and comprise of all lengths above 9cm.

1. Maturity stages of pods
2. The vanilla pod becomes long with a dark green colour (immature pod).
3. The top of the pod turns yellow (mature pod) and the pod turns from dark green to light green.
4. The yellow colour spreads gradually throughout the pod which becomes waxy.
5. The pod splits from the bottom (split pod).
6. The colour of the top of the pod changes to brown (overripe pod).

Our Vanilla Curing/Process:

All vanilla gourmet produced is passing through the following stages;-

Dipping, Sweating, Drying and conditioning methods.

Packaging and Transportation methods:

• Vanilla pods are always  transported  in clean boxes! cartons/food grade approved bags. These bags should be clean and should not have been used for any other chemically-treated grain/food/material or any bags previously used for transportation of chemical, herbicides or similar products.
• During the transportation to the agreed delivering site, carton boxes are  transported in a clean vehicle, free from any contaminants and chemical materials.
