To simplify, what apple was to Einstein is what Areca Sheaths are to palm leave dinnerware manufacturers. The analogy here indicates that all the raw material required for making palm leaf cutlery comes from the fallen sheaths of the Areca Palm tree. Fallen sheaths are nothing but a hard layer that is extracted from the leaves. One areca palm tree sheds five to six leaves a year. And the best thing is, that everything used up in this manufacturing process is completely biodegradable; the sheaths, leaves, and even the leftovers after plates or bowls are made.

MALNAD OVERSEAS has trained its workers to make the most optimum utilization [1] of the raw materials to ensure zero wastage. And hence MALNAD OVERSEAS adds #leafdisposable along with its name. The process starts by collecting fallen leaves of the tree from the lush green MALNAD REGION. To make the best quality dinnerware for you, we handpick every sheath collected by the farmers. The sheath must possess three features to go into processing; fresh, devoid of fungus, and thicker. After collecting them, they’re washed and soaked in water at the factory. Once the excess water is drained out, each sheath is taken to the molding machine to mold sheaths into tableware. No chemicals or any synthetic binders are used in the process. Once the molded tableware is ready, our women intricately grade and smoothen the edges of the cutlery to give it a beautiful finishing. The leftovers are then sent to the vermin composting industry.

Before the final packaging, it is ensured that plates and bowls are completely dried up and free from moisture to prevent growing molds and microbes on them. The final packages are then exported directly to the buyers. ●Areca Leaf Plates are 100% Natural- Since they are made from fallen leaves of the Areca nut palm tree and pressed by the hydraulic press machine, it is free from chemicals, glue, and binders. It has no extra coating applied to it to retain the texture.
