This is even as their London counterparts gained by 0.56% for #5 (white sugar).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the price was still stuck at<a href=\"https:\/\/markets.businessinsider.com\/commodities\/sugar-price?op=1\"><u>\u00a0$0.15<\/u><\/a>\u00a0a pound, it marked an overall daily gain of an average 1.15% internationally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Carryover strength came from Safras &amp; Mercado consulting, which recently forecast Brazil\u2019s 2026-27 output to decline by<a href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/sugar-prices-climb-end-short-171750831.html\"><u>\u00a03.91%<\/u><\/a>\u00a0annually, to 41.8 million tonnes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In itself, the forecast is reminiscent of a similar stimulus in August 2025 when a yield fall forecast in Brazil saw raw cane sugar&nbsp;<a href=\" www.selinawamucii.com\/news\/2025\/08\/20\/raw-cane-sugar-gets-a-brief-price-break\/\"><u>rally briefly<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-months-of-low-sugar-prices\"><strong><strong>Months of Low Sugar Prices<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The latest downturn projection is a turnaround from a bevy of record production forecasts for 2025-26, which have significantly cheapened the sweetener.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Together with India\u2019s similarly high current production prospects, Brazil\u2019s output had pressured international sugar rates through most of 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The national forecasting agency, Conab, on November 4, 2025 upped production estimates for 2025-26 from 44.5 million tonnes to 45 million tonnes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On December 16, the national Sugarcane Industry Association (Unica) reported sugar processing in the strategic central-south area as up by 1.1% annually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>India, the world\u2019s second sugar-milling nation, meanwhile repeatedly fronted strong expectations of a record 2025-26 sugar year. On November 11, 2025, the India Sugar Mill Association (ISMA) upped production by 18.8% annually, to 31 million tonnes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The International Sugar Organization (ISO) also raised 2025-26 global output by 3.2% year-on-year (y-o-y), to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.barchart.com\/story\/news\/36817336\/sugar-prices-gain-on-the-outlook-for-smaller-sugar-production-in-brazil\"><u>181.8 million tonnes.<\/u><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Production downturn projections for 2026-27 in Brazil by Safras &amp; Mercado therefore offer a timely check to reigning bright prospects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The firm not only expects the Amazon nation\u2019s output to dip but also foresees exports slipping by 11% next season.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sugar exports by Brazil are economically important globally because they reflect almost 50% of global sugar trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the 2022-23 marketing year, Brazil sold 28.2 million tonnes of raw sugar, far ahead of runner-up Thailand at 11 million tonnes. Ample sugar <a href=\"https:\/\/www.selinawamucii.com\/insights\/prices\/brazil\/sugar\/\"><u>prices<\/u><\/a>\u00a0that year helped the industry grow, supported by other sugars. Indeed, raw cane sugar is not the only sweetener the country sells, per the stats below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-brazil-sugar-statistics\"><strong>Brazil Sugar&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>Statistics&nbsp;<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Brazil leads worldwide sugar production with about&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.brazilsugarsupplier.com\/post\/brazilian-sugar-industry-2025\"><u>24%<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;annual production share. &nbsp;Output estimate for 2025-26 stood at 44.7 million tonnes, per a U.S. Department of Agriculture (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fas.usda.gov\/data\/brazil-sugar-annual-11\"><u>USDA<\/u><\/a>)\u2019s April 2025 report. The estimate marks 1 million tonnes more output than the 2024-25 season\u2019s 43.7 million tonnes. This significant gain owes to improving milling ability, which means processing maximization even with low cane volumes. Indeed, the Brazilian&nbsp;sugarcane Industry Association (Unica) cited that milling capacity upped by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.brazilsugarsupplier.com\/post\/brazilian-sugar-industry-2025\"><u>15%<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;in the half-decade ending 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Speaking of cane, Brazil harvests&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fas.usda.gov\/data\/brazil-sugar-annual-11\"><u>671 million tonnes<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;of the plant annually, per a USDA 2025-26 projection. Though slightly lower than the final 2024-25 production total at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/commodity-board.com\/brazil-usda-sugar-report-2025-summary\/\"><u>677.8 million tonnes<\/u><\/a>, this volume still allows sufficient crushing with current technology. Brazil\u2019s sugarcane harvest area extends to around&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.brazilsugarsupplier.com\/post\/brazilian-sugar-industry-2025\"><u>10 million hectares<\/u><\/a>, mostly in the central-south geographical region.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How important are Brazil\u2019s sugar exports globally?<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since Brazil ships the bulk of its production, it saturates the world with about&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.brazilsugarsupplier.com\/post\/brazilian-sugar-industry-2025\"><u>50%<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;of all international supplies. As a result, any market change within Brazil, such as prices, affects international markets.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Does Brazil export other sugars?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although overshadowed by the behemoth raw cane sugar industry, other pure sugars also exist in Brazil. According to the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/wits.worldbank.org\/trade\/comtrade\/en\/country\/ALL\/year\/2023\/tradeflow\/Exports\/partner\/WLD\/product\/294000\"><u>World Bank<\/u><\/a>, Brazil in 2023 exported 83,479 kg of pure sugars such as ethers worth $632,090.
