Total outbound bilateral exports in 2024 clocked 821 million shillings ($6.36 million) versus inbound shipments worth 58 million shillings ($449,268).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Georgia does not seem to rue the imbalance for Minister Songulashvili instead used the meeting to explore future partnerships via a new memorandum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Kenya-Georgia Agriculture Memorandum of Understanding seeks to boost private sector and bilateral partnerships in agro-processing, storage and logistics.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Georgia\u2019s import companies particularly dedicate themselves to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.selinawamucii.com\/insights\/prices\/kenya\/fresh-cut-flowers\/\"><u>quality cut flower<\/u><\/a>\u00a0arrivals from East Africa by anticipating shipments with cold chain facilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most dispatches time Valentine\u2019s Day (February), Women\u2019s Day (March) and Mothers\u2019 Day (May) when it is relatively cold, thus reducing cold chain expenses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-flowering-europe\"><strong>Flowering Europe &nbsp;<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In trade terms, Georgia exemplifies the high demand for Kenya\u2019s quality roses, mums, and tulips in Europe.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Floral imports by Tbilisi have been growing steadily in the half decade ending 2024, in tandem with similar global import growth projections.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The country\u2019s imports of cut flowers and buds from Kenya rose sharply from $408 million in 2020 to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/tradingeconomics.com\/kenya\/exports\/georgia\/cut-flowers-buds-bouquet-prepared\"><u>$5.8 million<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;in 2024.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While some of these flowers reach Georgia directly by air, most are re-exports from auctions in the Netherlands. Dutch auctions account for 50% of Kenya\u2019s sales, leaving 25% as direct exports to floral shops and supermarkets in the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nairobi dispatches 70% of its global flower trade to continental Europe which in turn represent&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/news.africa-business.com\/post\/kenya-flower-industry\"><u>40%&nbsp;<\/u><\/a>of worldwide flower imports by Europe. Most of the success of the sector emanates from exports worth $809 million annually, equal to almost&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/kenyaflowercouncil.org\/images\/KFC_FSA_Report_2024_Full_Web_Version.pdf\"><u>1%<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;of GDP (2021). While there are over 60 export destinations worldwide, Europe is the recipient of 70% of the dispatches.
