{"id":23853,"date":"2025-11-24T09:53:17","date_gmt":"2025-11-24T09:53:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.selinawamucii.com\/news\/?p=23853"},"modified":"2025-11-24T09:53:18","modified_gmt":"2025-11-24T09:53:18","slug":"mangos-peru-union-affirms-prices-as-dependent-on-international-markets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.selinawamucii.com\/news\/2025\/11\/24\/mangos-peru-union-affirms-prices-as-dependent-on-international-markets\/","title":{"rendered":"Mangos Peru union affirms prices as dependent on international markets"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Associaci\u00f3n de Productores y Exportadores de Mangos (APEM) of Peru has cited international market trends as the main determinant of export rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The APEM chose clarification to root out speculation that producers and exporters have reached a price agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to an Agraria news report on November 21, 2025, the APEM stated that exporters cannot \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/agraria.pe\/noticias\/apem-los-precios-del-mango-no-se-deciden-en-el-pais-ni-lo-fi-41184\"><u>set prices unilaterally.<\/u><\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One reason for this is because Peru has to compete with other tropical sources, with price being a competition pivot. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For one, the country harvests mangos same time as Brazil and Ecuador, all of which ship to North America and the European Union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The union pointed out that 2024-25 season\u2019s competition from Brazil and Ecuador peaked due to a bountiful year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Between January and October 2025, the Andes country shipped 179% more volumes than in the corresponding period in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like in 2024 when volumes contributed to high\u00a0<a href=\" www.selinawamucii.com\/news\/2025\/02\/10\/agro-exports-from-peru-rise-21-3-in-2024\/\"><u>agro-returns<\/u><\/a>\u00a0despite low export rates, 2025 experienced a volume-centric price downturn. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prices in the initial nine months of 2025 slid by 46% year-on-year (y-o-y), raising alarm among shipping associations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But according to APEM\u2019s president, Ivan Vilchez via&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/elproductor.com\/2025\/11\/peru-proyecta-caida-del-15-en-exportacion-de-mango-pero-espera-mejores-precios\/\"><u>El Productor<\/u><\/a>, 2025-26 volumes will reduce by 15% y-o-y, potentially recouping prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to Vilchez, Lima might ship 240,000 tonnes of fresh mango in the coming season, vis-\u00e1-vis 280,000 tonnes in 2024-25.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In comparison, the 2024-25 export campaign constituted 55% fresh and 38% frozen mangos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For the upcoming harvest that starts in late November (week 48), attention turns to the commercial Ataulfo, Kent and Edward cultivars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This commercially appealing trio reaches peak harvest in January, just when the northern hemisphere is courting marginal supplies due to winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>While the U.S. and Europe represent 90% of the exports, the Far-East is slowly becoming a gaining market. Could new markets like Japan, China and South Korea redeem\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.selinawamucii.com\/insights\/prices\/peru\/mangoes\/\"><u>prices of mangos in Peru<\/u><\/a> for their taste and appeal? The following stats illustrate other points of appeal, namely production and export largesse.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-peru-mangos-statistics\"><strong>Peru Mangos&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>Statistics&nbsp;<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Peru is among the top 21 mango-producing nations and a leading exporter in the world. In 2023, for example, it ranked 21<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0in production at approximately\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/worldpopulationreview.com\/country-rankings\/mango-production-by-country\"><u>392,700 tonnes<\/u><\/a>. In 2020, the country earned US$315.2 million in export value, just behind Mexico. Peru exported the most volume historically in the 2022-23 season, at 252,000 tonnes while the lowest came from earlier decades. This is according to the\u00a0Associaci\u00f3n de Productores y Exportadores de Mango (APEM)\u2019s publication\u00a0\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/peruvianmango.com.pe\/edicion\/Apem03.pdf\"><u>Peruvian Mango<\/u><\/a>.&#8221; The APEM expected 2024-25 season&#8217;s exports to overtake this record by at least 13%, to 282,311 tonnes.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Which countries buy most mangos from Peru?<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The United States and countries in Europe absorb some\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/elproductor.com\/2025\/11\/peru-proyecta-caida-del-15-en-exportacion-de-mango-pero-espera-mejores-precios\/\"><u>90%<\/u><\/a>\u00a0of all mango exports while the other regions the rest.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Where do most of Peru\u2019s mangos grow?<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the APEM, the region of de Piura on the northwestern coast represents&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/peruvianmango.com.pe\/edicion\/Apem03.pdf\"><u>70% &nbsp;<\/u><\/a>of national mango production volumes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Associaci\u00f3n de Productores y Exportadores de Mangos (APEM) of Peru has cited international market trends as the main determinant of export rates.
