This is vis-\u00e1-vis the 429.62 billion peso ($7.75 billion) of Q1, 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-crops\"><strong>Crops<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Although their output rose modestly by 1%, crops generated 249.61 billion peso ($4.5 billion) or 57% of the industry\u2019s total.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The returns marked a significant turnaround for crops, which had retracted in production by -2.2% back in 2024.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tobacco had the highest production growth among crops at 80.4% while cocoa, cane and rubber posted\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gmanetwork.com\/news\/money\/economy\/945262\/ph-agriculture-output-up-1-9-in-q1-2025\/story\/\"><u>23.6%, 19% and 13.6%<\/u><\/a>, respectively.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Palay (unhusked) rice, a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.selinawamucii.com\/reports\/philipines-rice-report\/\"><u>price-sensitive crop<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;due to production versus consumption needs, grew in output by a meager 0.3%. &nbsp;This was however an improvement from 2024 when its production continually fell across all quarters.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-poultry-and-fisheries\"><strong>Poultry and Fisheries<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Poultry production enjoyed smooth growth by 9.4% year-on-year (y-o-y), albeit one lesser in revenue than for crops. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Returns by this domestic bird sector topped 75.22 billion peso ($1.36 billion), courtesy generous positive showing by most production niches.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The leading niche was hen\u2019s eggs, whose output rose by 12.1%, hand-in-hand with live chicken at 8.7%.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also in the expansion pool were fisheries, which posted 1.5% growth, y-o-y, to 55.1 billion peso ($994 million).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In revenue terms, the fisheries\u2019 revenue value represented 12.6% among all agricultural sectors. &nbsp;Uptick production growth of slipmouth at 21% and mudcrab at 20%, y-o-y, fueled the monetary contribution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quarter 1, 2025 has therefore been a turnaround timeline for agriculture in the Philippines. It has even posted agricultural production growth for even currently lackluster sectors like rice that heavily\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.selinawamucii.com\/news\/2023\/09\/22\/will-the-philippines-surpass-china-as-worlds-top-rice-importer\/\"><u>depend on imports<\/u><\/a>. To learn more on the PH\u2019s agri-food performance in past years, peruse the below statistics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-philippines-agricultural-production-growth-statistics\"><strong>The Philippines Agricultural Production Growth Statistics<\/strong><strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Agricultural production growth in the PH is important economically since the agriculture offers livelihoods to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/borgenproject.org\/agricultural-development-in-the-philippines\/\"><u>37%<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;of the national workforce. In 2023, agriculture grew by&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/cfa.uap.asia\/cfa-briefer-philippine-agriculture-2024-2025-performance-outlook-and-strategic-insights\/\"><u>1.2%<\/u><\/a>, while the rival industrial sector expanded by 3.6%. 2024, however, was a dismal year for agriculture for it brought negative growth of &#8211;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bworldonline.com\/infographics\/2025\/01\/29\/649618\/performance-of-philippine-agriculture-q4-and-full-year-2024\/\"><u>2.2%<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;due to a production downturn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How has va<\/strong><strong>lu<\/strong><strong>e added agriculture<\/strong><strong>, fisheries and forestry<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;p<\/strong><strong>erformed<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;in the past 7 decades in the PH<\/strong>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Volatile highs and lows have periodically informed the annual value addition growth in agriculture, fisheries and forestry in the Philippines.
