The\u00a0meat industry in Belarus\u00a0<\/u><\/a>grew by a quarter over the previous year. The pace has been maintained this year-in 3 months, the output in monetary terms has increased by 10%, the Ministry of Agriculture reported last week at the largest forum on “Belarus meat.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Deputy Minister Vladimir Shagoyko, exports of high margin and value added products, such as sausages<\/u><\/a> and canned food, have increased. According to him, the share of such products was about 17% in 2021, while by the end of 2022 it was 20%, while in 2023, the share of such products has risen up to 23%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The situation in the meat industry of Belarus is formed in such a way that meat processing plants produce far more products than are consumed inside the country, while agricultural enterprises plan to further expand production capacity to increase foreign currency earnings. Today, meat products are exported to more than 20 countries and the main consumers are China and Russia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The invited speaker of the forum “Belarus Meat” from the Federal Scientific Center of Food Systems named after A. Gorbatov recommended to increase the production capacity of Belarusian meat <\/u><\/a>processing enterprises. The \u201cGorbatov Center\u201d recommended that meat and meat products exporters from Belarus planning to expand exports to Russia should take into account the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU)\u2019s technical regulations and the list of standards attached to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Customs control has been abolished between Russia <\/u><\/a>and Belarus, as well as all EAEU member states. However, meat processing companies from Belarus should remember that slaughter products and meat products released in circulation in the EEU should meet the requirements of TR CU 034\/2013 “on the safety of meat and meat products, as well as other technical regulations that apply to them,” – commented an expert on technical regulation of the Federal Scientific Center of Food Systems named after Gorbatov. Yulia Kuzlyakina, an expert in technical regulation at the Gorbatov Federal Scientific Center for Food Systems, commented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the expert, companies should also familiarize themselves with draft state standards, which are currently being developed by the Technical Committee on the Standardization “Meat and Meat Products” (TC 226) based on the Federal Scientific Center of Food Systems named after Gorbatov. In 2023, the committee plans to approve several interstate standards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the expert adds, in the future, parts of the interstate standards are planned to be included in the lists of the technical regulations entitled 034\/2013. Draft standards that are being developed by TC 226 and planned for consideration by the Federal Agency for Technical Regulation and Metrology (Rosstandart) are published on the page of the technical committee (TC 226).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
