At present, it is the golden period of sowing in dry fields and raking paddy fields. According to the May 3 agricultural dispatch, Jilin Province rice seedling sowing work is basically over. Corn accounted for 61.62% of the total sown portion of the planned area, 1.38 percentage points slower than last year. P<\/u>otatoes<\/u><\/a> have been sown in 85.37% of the planned area, 3.57 percentage points faster than last year. At the entry point to the Jiuyifeng Family Farm in Shijia Village, Wanchang Town in Yongji County,  high-powered tractors are hanging pulpers for soaking the whole field operations and the workers are already in the rice fields to clean up the floating rice straw. In the rice seedling shed, green seedlings are neat and robust and the growth is pleasing to the eye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“This year, the water has been brought up early, and we can now start soaking the field early, so that the mud in the field has sufficient time to settle, so as to lay a solid foundation for a good rice harvest<\/u><\/a> this year.” Zhang Quan family farm in-charge said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the first batch of family farms typical of the country, over the past few years, the farm has successively transferred 5500 mu (907.5 acres) of land to more than 300 farmers in 4 villages. These  include 67 hectares of high-standard farmland and protected black-soil arable land spanning 277.2 hectares. Since the land is suitable for large-scale production, intensive management and industrial operation, the farm is taking the lead to achieving agricultural modernization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the corn production <\/u><\/a>base of Yisheng Agricultural Machinery Co., Ltd., in Siping City, Lishu County, the new no-tillage planter roars and the dark land is covered with a thin layer of straw debris. Miao Quan of Siping Yisheng Agricultural Machinery Co., Ltd., said: “this machine gathers the straw returner, the strip rotary tiller and the no-tillage planter together. Through the straw return machine installed at the front end of the tractor, the straw on the sowing belt is cleaned up and covered on the leisure belt. Through the tillage and preparation parts installed at the rear of the tractor, the sowing belt is deeply loosened, leveled, and  the bottom fertilizer is deeply applied. Seeding components are installed at the rear of the tillage components for sowing, while drip irrigation belts can also be laid.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, Jilin Province continued to promote good food<\/u><\/a> practices on new high-standard farmlands and geared up the protection scheme for the northeast black-soil land. It also carried out construction projects on 3.78 million  of land and expanded the high-standard farmland demonstration area to 150,000 mu. It also laid the groundwork for promoting the “pear model” and other conservation tillage technology area reaching 35 million mu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
