{"id":18509,"date":"2023-04-26T09:46:46","date_gmt":"2023-04-26T09:46:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.selinawamucii.com\/news\/?p=18509"},"modified":"2023-05-26T17:37:52","modified_gmt":"2023-05-26T17:37:52","slug":"mexico-still-does-not-import-meat-from-brazil-and-argentina","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.selinawamucii.com\/news\/2023\/04\/26\/mexico-still-does-not-import-meat-from-brazil-and-argentina\/","title":{"rendered":"Mexico still does not import meat from Brazil and Argentina"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The\u00a0Consulting Group of Agricultural Markets (GCMA) in Mexico has\u00a0stated that there have been no imports of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.selinawamucii.com\/insights\/market\/brazil\/beef\/\"><u>Brazilian beef,<\/u><\/a>\u00a0due to the fact that logistics costs are very high and the product cannot compete on price.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/sharing\/share-offsite\/?url=https:\/\/www.eleconomista.com.mx\/empresas\/Mexico-sigue-sin-importar-carne-de-Brasil-y-Argentina-20230426-0006.html\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even though the Mexican government allowed the entry of beef,&nbsp;tariff-free,&nbsp;from third-party&nbsp;countries with which there is no free trade agreement,&nbsp;to &#8220;favor the Mexican economy&#8221; as part of the inflationary measures,&nbsp;in the&nbsp;first quarter of the year, only 3 tons of meat imported from Argentina are recorded and&nbsp;there is&nbsp;no record from Brazil, according to data from the National Customs Agency of Mexico (ANAM).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite being self-sufficient,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.selinawamucii.com\/insights\/prices\/mexico\/beef\/\"><u>Mexico<\/u><\/a>&nbsp;presents a record in beef imports in the first quarter of the year, but 99% comes from the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.selinawamucii.com\/insights\/prices\/united-states-of-america\/beef\/\"><u>&nbsp;United States<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn March 2022, the volume entered was 39.9 million tons of bovine meat, with a commercial value of 299 million dollars.&nbsp;A year later, the volume increased&nbsp;by&nbsp;16.3%,&nbsp;reaching a level of 46.4 million tons,&#8221; said GCMA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The general director of the consulting agency, Juan Carlos Anaya, stated that there have been no imports of Brazilian beef, derived from the fact that logistics costs are very high and the imported product cannot compete in price at the national level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Through the Opening Agreement Against Inflation and High Costs (Apecic), the government of Andr\u00e9s Manuel L\u00f3pez suspended all regulations that prevent or make the importation and entry of food more expensive, in which beef paid a tariff of 75%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La Sader reported on the requirements that Argentina and Brazil must meet&nbsp;for the two countries to&nbsp;be allowed to export beef to Mexico, after three years of negotiation, despite the fact that Mexico is self-sufficient in terms of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.selinawamucii.com\/insights\/market\/mexico\/beef\/\"><u>beef production<\/u><\/a>.&nbsp;At the end of 2023, a production of 2.21 million tons is projected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Source: Eleconomista.com.mx<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0Consulting Group of Agricultural Markets (GCMA) in Mexico has\u00a0stated that there have been no imports of\u00a0Brazilian beef,\u00a0due to the fact that logistics costs are very high and the product cannot compete on price.
