The Lampung Provincial Government has asked district and city governments in the area to only distribute healthy livestock <\/u><\/a>for both shipping and public consumption.<\/p>\n

“Seeing that recently there have been a lot of livestock diseases, districts and cities are expected to distribute healthy livestock,” said Lampung Province Economic and Development Assistant Kusnardi in Bandarlampung, Tuesday.<\/p>\n

He said that in order to carry out the distribution of healthy livestock, it is necessary to tighten supervision of livestock traffic, especially at the border, to prevent the entry of diseases in livestock.<\/p>\n

“So please strengthen the border supervision but not make it difficult, don’t miss it again. Then it would be safer to downstream, so we don’t sell live cattle but meat,” he said.<\/p>\n

He added\u00a0that the downstreaming of livestock products<\/u><\/a>, in addition to being more efficient,\u00a0will also be easier to prevent the spread of diseases\u00a0in livestock.<\/p>\n

“In addition, slaughtering can also be done at slaughterhouses (RPH), because each regency and city already has at least one RPH, so it must be utilized properly,” he said.<\/p>\n

According to him, by slaughtering animals in slaughterhouses, food hygiene and safety are more guaranteed for consumers, as well as preventing disease transmission in livestock.<\/p>\n

“So it is hoped that slaughtering in this abattoir can be intensified again, such as Indonesian <\/u>chicken<\/u><\/a>\u00a0slaughtering if it is made special, which of course makes it more hygienic and does not cause waste that pollutes water. This slaughterhouse can also be a place to isolate sick livestock, so they can be separated from healthy ones,” he said.<\/p>\n

He said that currently many abattoirs are managed by the government, so his party also opens opportunities to cooperate with the private sector to develop abattoirs in the region.<\/p>\n

“The point is that livestock must be healthy to be distributed or consumed. By maintaining animal health, periodic supervision, utilization of slaughterhouses, and what must be developed is managing primary products into derivative products,” he added.<\/p>\n
