Scindapsus is an aroid plant that is endemic to Indonesia. The plant population is spread across 3 islands namely Java, Sumatra and Kalimantan. Like other ornamental plants<\/u><\/a>, scindapsus is also divided into two types, namely ordinary and mutated scindapsus.<\/p>\n

Mutated plants certainly have a higher value compared to ordinary plants. The availability of mutated plants in the market is very limited. Ornamental <\/u>flower <\/u><\/a>entrepreneur in Depok City, West Java, Nanang Koswara, said that scindapsus with color mutations have an attractive appearance and seem exclusive.<\/p>\n

Middle to upper class consumers favor mutated scindapsus such as Scindapsus treubii ‘moon light’ and S. pictus ‘jade satin’. S. treubii ‘moon light’ features yellowish-white leaves with green marbling. The oval leaf shape forms a heart proportionally. The texture of the plant\u2019s\u00a0stem is smooth.<\/p>\n

In fact, S. pictus ‘jade satin’ has almost the same color composition as S. treubii ‘moon light’. The difference between the two lies in the thickness of the leaves. S. pictus ‘jade satin’ has thinner leaves than S. treubii ‘moon light.\u2019<\/p>\n

The leaf shape of S. pictus ‘jade satin’ is also heart-like, but the right and left sides are not the same. This character occurs in all leaves. The heart shape, which is considered disproportionate, is actually the hallmark of S. pictus ‘jade satin.\u2019<\/p>\n

Paul-Nanang Koswara’s nickname-said that the demand for scindapsus is very high. Throughout 2022, Paul released 500 scindapsus in the local market. The majority of the plants consist of 2-3 leaves. The rest of the plants consist of 10-20 leaves and more than 20 leaves.<\/p>\n

The flowering <\/u>plants cost<\/u><\/a>\u00a0from IDR500,000 to more than IDR20 million. The owner of Bogana Pot Plant nurseries propagates scindapsus using stem cuttings to meet consumer demand.<\/p>\n
