VELVET BEANS

Velvet beans is an annual legume being promoted in Zambia as feed for livestock and also for soil improvement. As livestock feed it is cut at flowering stage and mixed with maize to make silage. it is also fed in form of hay when cut at flowering stage and mixed with low quality natural grass in mixed form. it is also fed to livestock especially dairy when it is harvested in pods, crushed will a hammer mill and mixed with bran and fed as supplement to livestock including, goats, chickens, dairy and beef
