PineNuts

Pakistan is one of the world's leading producers of pine nuts, known locally as "chilgoza." These nuts are harvested from the pine forests of the country's northern regions, particularly in the areas of Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan. The pine nuts from Pakistan are highly prized for their rich, buttery flavour and are considered a delicacy in both domestic and international markets. The harvesting process is labour-intensive and traditional, often involving entire communities who climb the pine trees to collect the cones by hand. After harvesting, the cones are dried, and the nuts are extracted and processed. Pakistan's pine nuts are not only a significant source of income for local communities but also play a crucial role in the country's export economy. Their high demand globally, particularly in China and the Middle East, underscores their value and importance as a premium agricultural product.
