FROZEN CLEANED SNAILS

THE PRODUCT

The product is Achatina Achatina Snails cleaned, vacuum sealed and frozen. 

The Snails ready for processing are collected in containers and kept for three (3) days before they are processed to ensure the excretion of all dirt in the intestines.

The cleaning process involves the use of common salt and lemon to thoroughly remove the dirt and slime.

The packaging is firstly done in vacuum sealed polyethene in one (1) kg then in zipped bags and Cartons of ten(10) and twenty (20) Kilos.  

THE FARM

The farm is one and a half acres enclosed pens with feeds planted in pens for feeding the Snails. 

The Snails are produced organically in their natural environment. Plantains are planted as cover crops. Spinach and Sweet Potatoes vines are planted for cover and as feed. Papaya fruits and leaves are used as food supplements. Old Snail shells are heated and crushed and used to meet the calcium needs of the Snails.  

There are open fields where the snails are raised during the raining season and fattening pens where small Snails are gathered and raised during the close season.
