Haras De Pirque Galantas Cabernet Franc Gran Rs

Located at the foot of the Andes, in the Maipo Valley, Haras de Pirque is owned by the Antinori family. The vineyards are certified organic and lie at 700 metres above sea level and are vinified separately to keep the character of each terroir.

Fermented with indigenous yests and aged in French oak barrels for 14 months. Aromas of blue and black berry with hints of minerals. Full-bodied with supple tannins and a long and fresh finish.

The lovingly tended vineyards are on largely north-facing slopes, from the middle of which rises a unique horseshoe shaped gravity flow winery, inspired by the estates other claim to fame, as an internationally renowned thoroughbred breeding farm. The wine side of Haras de Pirque is now owned by Italy’s Antinori family, their chief winemaker Renzo Cotarella bringing his own sensibility to bear while respecting the character of this very particular terroir.

Galantas represents the maximum expression of Cabernet Franc in the Maipo Andres valley. A wine capable of expressing the characteristic vibrance, elegance, and finesse of this unique terroir. The grapes are sourced from Haras de Pirque’s organic vineyards, situated in the Maipo Andes valley at over 2300 feet (700 meters) above sea level. Here Cabernet Franc succeeds in expressing to the maximum degree its important potential, much assisted by the cool nights of the Andres foothills.

The 2018 Cabernet Franc Gran Reserva Galantas from Pirque, Maipo Alto, is blended with 15% Carménère and was aged for 14 months in barrels. Garnet red in the glass, the pure and precise aromas feature blackcurrant and hints of mint, sour cherry and ash over an oaky and toasted layer. Lean and juicy in the mouth, the palate presents finely grained tannins enhanced by a mild freshness that keeps things flowing. Lingering with a smoked trace.

With the Haras de Pirque Galantas Cabernet Franc Gran Reserva comes a first-class organic red wine in the wine glass. Here it offers a wonderfully bright, purple color. If you swirl the glass, you can perceive a first-class balance in this red wine, because it does not stand out watery or syrupy or liqueur-like on the walls of the glass.
