Yam from Ghana

Yams from Ghana are produced in large quantities and are exported throughout the whole year. Ghana produces on average eight million tons of yam annually. Yam is a leading agricultural export commodity for Ghana.

Our yams are produced on organic farms and are well managed from diseases and rot. we do not use chemicals and pesticides on our farm, we encourage manual weed control using simple farm tools like hoes and pointed cutlass. We produce and select quality and tasty 'Pona' and 'Muchumudu' varieties from our farms for exporters. We have some selected local yam producers where we source most from. Our yams are packed and weighed in 20 kg.

Packaging Procedure

2. 1. Uniformity-yams with the same variety and sizes.
3. 2. it should be firm and free from obvious defects, smooth and straight.
4. 3. it is left to  be cured 7-8 days at 30˚c (86˚ – 90˚F ) leaving it in an airy and shady place for a week with 90-95% R.H (Relative humidity).
5. 4. Yam that is light in weight for their size are avoided (rot can set inside without it being visible externally).
