Castor seeds, scientifically known as Ricinus Communis belongs to the spurge family. The seeds of Castor plant have various benefits, among which include, extraction of CASTOR OIL used to lubricate heavy machineries such as aircrafts, farm implements, trucks. Others include different oils for hair growth, soaps, body oils etc.

Castor seeds are also extremely useful for the production of health drugs, chemicals which have therapeutic value.

In Zambia, a number of farmers have realised the value of this crop and have since started growing in large quantities. Although the price for Castro seeds varies from time to time, it fetches around US $5 per KG.
